Durango Community Profile

Durango is an active, vibrant, multicultural community which is growing every year. The population of La Plata County was 32,284 in 1990; in 2000, the population was approximately 44,556, and in 2020, the population is estimated to be about 63,987. In 1990, there were approximately 11,976 households and today there are an estimated 15,324. The unemployment rate was reduced from 5.8% in 1990 to 4.8% in 1997.
